Memory overread via convolution edge sampling
Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in FFmpeg's Convolution Filter allows remote attackers to trigger invalid memory access via a crafted video frame. The setup_3x3 routine in libavfilter/vf_convolution.c derives 3-by-3 neighbor pointers at frame edges without keeping every sample within the source buffer. Exploitation requires FFmpeg to process attacker-controlled video through the affected filter; the public record does not establish data disclosure or a reliable crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
