File disclosure via pre-expansion shell path validation
Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026
Authorization bypass in Cosmic Stack Mercury Agent 1.1.13 and earlier allows remote attackers to read out-of-workspace files. In checkShellCommand(), hasPathBeyondCwd inspects literal paths before shell expansion, so a safe-read command containing $HOME is approved and later expanded outside the workspace. Exploitation requires control of a prompt or task that invokes run_command and exposes files readable by the Mercury process.
