Authenticated environment-secret disclosure via shell expansion auto-approval
Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026
Information disclosure in Mercury Agent 1.2.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read process environment secrets via Web chat. The checkShellCommand method auto-approves commands matching echo patterns before the system shell expands attacker-supplied environment-variable references. Access to an authenticated chat session and influence over run_command are required, limiting disclosure to values present in the Mercury process environment.
