Arbitrary file write via unvalidated filename traversal
Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026
Path traversal in HexStrike AI at commit d689933ff579d839c676c82b231f8e98326c5f04 allows remote attackers to write files outside the API directory. FileOperationsManager joins the untrusted filename directly to /tmp/hexstrike_files and opens the resulting path without resolving it or enforcing containment. The unauthenticated file endpoints expose the flaw remotely, permitting writes anywhere allowed by the server process and enabling persistent code execution when startup files are targeted.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
