Unauthenticated command execution via shell-backed API parameters
Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026
OS command injection in HexStrike AI at commit d689933 allows remote attackers to execute commands through API tool parameters. API handlers append fields such as additional_args, target, or payload to shell command strings passed to subprocess.Popen with shell=True. The server must be network-reachable; injected commands run with its process privileges and can read or alter host data or interrupt service.
