Process crash via inconsistent sample-to-chunk metadata
Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026
Reachable assertion in GPAC MP4Box at commit f1219cde allows local users to crash the process by opening a crafted MP4 file. stbl_GetSampleInfos asserts that firstSampleInCurrentChunk does not exceed the requested sample before rejecting inconsistent sample-to-chunk metadata. A local user must cause MP4Box to parse attacker-controlled ISOBMFF content; the bounded consequence is termination of that process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
