Process abort via unhandled XMT element

Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026

Reachable assertion in GPAC MP4Box f1219cde allows local users to abort the process by importing a crafted XMT scene. The xmt_parse_element parser reaches gf_assert(0) when an unhandled element leaves its parent without a node, rather than rejecting the malformed scene. The issue is reachable through MP4Box -add when assertions are enabled, and the demonstrated consequence is a single-process abort.
