Authenticated cross-account profile modification via trusted userid
Published Sep 13, 2026 · Updated Sep 13, 2026
Authorization bypass in E-commerce-project-springBoot allows remote authenticated users to alter other users' profiles. UserController.updateUserProfile passes the request-supplied userid and profile fields to the update service without comparing that identifier with the authenticated principal. A logged-in customer can therefore change another account's username, email, password, or address by substituting its userid, and the operation persists those changes.
