Crash and heap disclosure via unchecked activity index
Published Sep 12, 2026 · Updated Sep 12, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Freeciv 3.1.0 through 3.2.5 allows attackers to crash the game or expose limited heap data via a savegame file. The sg_load_player_unit() function uses an invalid unit activity index to access activities.order[] without first validating the array bound. Exploitation requires the crafted savegame to be loaded, after which the process can crash or disclose adjacent heap contents.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
