Continued authorization via fail-open LDAP ppolicy check
Published Sep 22, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
Authorization bypass in SSSD on affected Red Hat products allows remote authenticated users to retain access after deprovisioning. The LDAP ppolicy access check treats a zero-result user lookup as success and caches that allow decision instead of denying authorization. Exploitation requires prior valid account context and an LDAP access order containing ppolicy or lockout; access can persist to protected data and limited resource changes.
