Authenticated command execution via SFTP-uploaded filenames
Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026
Command injection in CISA's Malcolm before 26.06.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands via SFTP-uploaded filenames. The filebeat-process-zeek-folder.sh script uses xargs text substitution to splice each untrusted filename into a bash -c script body, causing shell metacharacters to be evaluated as code. Valid SFTP credentials are required; scheduled processing runs the injected commands inside the filebeat container, allowing access to or modification of ingested data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
