Kernel memory corruption via QP size overflow
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Integer overflow in the Linux kernel's RDMA/mlx5 QP creation path allows local users to corrupt kernel memory through crafted queue sizes. set_user_buf_size() left-shifts user-controlled rq.wqe_cnt and rq.wqe_shift as signed integers, so overflow makes ib_umem_get() map less memory than the device can write. Exploitation requires local access to an mlx5 InfiniBand/RDMA uverbs device; the resulting undersized mapping permits out-of-bounds hardware writes and can compromise or crash the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
