Backing-store corruption via unchecked iSER PDU length
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Linux kernel 3.10 and later allows remote authenticated users to corrupt backing storage via a malformed iSER PDU. The isert_recv_done() path forwards PDUs without comparing wc->byte_len to the BHS-declared data length, so handlers copy past a fixed receive descriptor. Exploitation requires a completed iSCSI login and negotiated unsolicited or immediate data; it can expose adjacent heap contents to a SCSI WRITE and crash the kernel, but read-back was not demonstrated.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
