Use-after-free via interrupt teardown race
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux's DaVinci SPI driver allows local users to read freed kernel memory via interrupts during removal. In drivers/spi/spi-davinci.c, spi_controller_put() frees the controller and its interrupt-handler data before managed IRQ cleanup drains davinci_spi_irq(). Exposure requires an active DaVinci SPI controller, privileged controller removal, and a late or latched interrupt; the published mechanism establishes an invalid kernel-memory access, not a demonstrated data leak or code-execution exploit.
