Kernel disclosure and crash via unchecked firmware TLVs
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Out-of-bounds reads in the Linux ath11k driver allow attackers controlling Wi-Fi firmware to disclose kernel memory or crash the host. ath11k_wmi_process_csa_switch_count_event() accepts an unchecked firmware num_vdevs value as the vdev_ids loop bound and lacks a minimum-length policy for the event TLV. Exploitation requires ath11k firmware able to send a malformed CSA switch-count event; the over-read cannot modify kernel memory.
