I/O hang via unresumed array suspension
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Denial of service in Linux 6.7 md bitmap handling allows local users to hang array I/O via a bitmap backlog configuration write. In drivers/md/md-bitmap.c, backlog_store() suspends the array before checking for a write-mostly device, then leaves it suspended on the error path when none exists. Triggering requires administrative access to the array configuration; subsequent I/O blocks rather than a reported kernel crash or data disclosure.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
