CVE-2026-90383

Local privilege escalation via unlocked GRU page-table walk

Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026

Race condition in the Linux SGI GRU driver allows local users with /dev/gru access to gain kernel privileges through GRU DMA. The TLB miss handler walks user page tables in interrupt context without page-table locks or page references and misuses a kernel accessor on user mappings. An unprivileged process on an x86-64 SGI GRU system can program a stale or attacker-selected physical frame for arbitrary host-memory reads or writes, or trigger a kernel crash.
