Use-after-free via incomplete interface-add error cleanup
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Linux 5.19's mt7915 Wi-Fi driver allows local users to trigger use-after-free when interface creation fails to allocate a WCID. On allocation failure, mt7915_add_interface() leaves interface masks and firmware device state allocated and retains monitor_vif after mac80211 frees the interface. The stale-pointer path requires the affected driver, failed allocation, and subsequent testmode access; the disclosure establishes resource leakage and freed-memory dereferencing, not arbitrary code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
