CVE-2026-90360Hinoki check available

Kernel warning via regulator cleanup suspend race

Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026

A race in Linux kernel regulator cleanup allows local users to trigger an I2C warning when cleanup overlaps system suspend. In drivers/regulator/core.c, schedule_delayed_work() queues regulator_init_complete_work on non-freezable system_wq, allowing unused-regulator writes to reach an already suspended I2C adapter. Exposure requires suspend to overlap cleanup about 30 seconds after boot; the reported consequence is an -ESHUTDOWN warning, not a documented crash.
