Kernel control-flow hijack via undersized BPF stack
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Memory corruption in the x86 BPF trampoline in affected Linux kernels allows local users with BPF capabilities to hijack kernel control flow. save_args() reserves one register slot for a 16-byte scalar, then writes both halves of the argument over saved frame data. Exploitation requires CAP_BPF and CAP_PERFMON access and can disclose kernel memory, redirect execution, or panic the host.
