Device-reference leak via duplicate PCI initialization
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Resource leakage in the mt7915 driver in Linux 5.18 allows attackers to retain device references via duplicate PCI initialization. The mt7915_pci_init_hif2() helper runs twice, incrementing hif_idx, writing RECOG_ID, and acquiring two device references while removal releases only one. The affected path requires non-WED dual-HIF hardware; no attacker-controlled input, crash, or hang is documented.
