Memory access via unchecked primary link index
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Out-of-bounds access in Linux 6.18 mt7996_tx() allows attackers to access memory beyond Wi-Fi link arrays via an unspecified link ID. When mac80211 omits the link, the function uses the primary link ID of 15 unchecked to index vif->link_conf[], mvif->mt76.link[], and sta->link[], each containing 15 entries. This requires the mt7996 transmit path before the first link is added; public sources do not establish attacker control or a specific crash outcome.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
