Resource leak via incomplete force-feedback initialization cleanup
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Resource leakage in Linux HID++ initialization allows local users to leave force-feedback resources allocated after allocation failures. In drivers/hid/hid-logitech-hidpp.c, hidpp_ff_init() returns without calling input_ff_destroy() when private-data, effect-array, or workqueue allocation fails after input_ff_create() succeeds. The path requires force-feedback device initialization and a subsequent allocation failure; published evidence does not establish a crash, hang, or attacker-controlled failure trigger.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
