Kernel memory read via malformed OCFS2 xattrs
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux OCFS2 2.6.28 through 7.2.5 allows local users to trigger an out-of-range kernel read via corrupted xattr metadata. The external-xattr reader fails to bound non-indexed xh_count and entry offsets or indexed-bucket name and value offsets before listxattr() and getxattr() traverse them. Reachability requires processing a crafted OCFS2 volume and invoking an affected xattr operation; the reproduced result was a KASAN-detected use-after-free read, not demonstrated code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
