HTTPS service crash via missing password validation
Published Oct 1, 2026 · Updated Oct 1, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in TP-Link Tapo C120 V1 and C200 V5 allows remote attackers on the local network to crash HTTPS management. The HTTPS onboarding connect parser fails to verify that a password field exists for certain authentication and encryption settings before using it. The interface remains reachable without authentication after setup; repeated malformed requests can sustain the outage, and recovery sometimes requires a device reboot.
