Kernel disruption via stale RapidIO network pointer
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux RapidIO allows local users to disrupt the kernel through failed network registration and port teardown. In drivers/rapidio/rio-scan.c, rio_scan_alloc_net() releases the rio_net after rio_add_net() fails but leaves mport->net dangling, exposing later unregister operations to freed-memory access or another free. The path requires RapidIO registration failure followed by port teardown; the published assessment requires privileged local access, and a specific crash mode or code-execution outcome is not established.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
