Resource leakage via incorrect PHY initialization cleanup
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Resource leakage in Linux 6.1 Sunplus USB2 PHY initialization allows attackers to retain clock and reset state via failed setup. The sp_uphy_init() error paths perform cleanup for unsuccessful stages and skip clock disabling and reset assertion when update_disc_vol() fails. Exposure requires the Sunplus SP7021 driver and an initialization failure; attacker control of that failure and any resulting crash or hang are not documented.
