CVE-2026-90279Hinoki check available

Bitmap tracking errors via incorrect stripe rounding

Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026

Incorrect rounding in Linux md/raid5 allows local users to misdirect write-intent bitmap updates via writes to RAID5 arrays. The raid5_bitmap_sector_map() function uses power-of-two bitmask rounding for stripe widths that need not be powers of two, selecting the wrong component-sector interval. Exposure requires writes reaching the bitmap mapper with such stripe geometry; the published reproduction demonstrates incorrect tracking, not code execution or a service crash.
