I/O hang via uncleared RAID1 takeover flag
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Denial of service in Linux md/raid1 allows local users to hang array I/O by triggering a RAID1 takeover on an affected kernel. The raid1_takeover() function sets array_frozen on the new configuration, but the resume path no longer clears it, leaving _wait_barrier() blocking indefinitely. Reachability requires array-reconfiguration access; the reported consequence is a permanent I/O stall on the taken-over array.
