Sysfs entry leak via incorrect SCSI probe cleanup
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Resource-management error in Linux 7.1 through 7.2.5 allows attackers to leak a sysfs entry during failed SCSI disk probing. In sd_probe(), failure from sd_large_pool_create() after device_add() succeeds jumps to out_free_index, which directly frees a registered sdkp instead of unregistering disk_dev and letting scsi_disk_release() free it. The path requires a large-pool allocation failure during SCSI disk discovery; published material establishes no attacker-controlled trigger or impact beyond the stale entry and invalid object lifetime.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
