Memory exhaustion via skipped SCSI payload cleanup
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Memory leakage in the Linux SCSI disk driver allows local users to consume kernel memory via UNMAP or WRITE SAME commands. In drivers/scsi/sd.c, command setup skips uninit_command() after scsi_alloc_sgtables() fails because RQF_DONTPREP is unset, leaving the special payload page allocated. Exploitation requires reaching those command paths and the allocation failure; resource exhaustion affects availability, but the sources do not specify a crash, hang, or reboot.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
