Device initialization hang via recursive mutex acquisition
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Deadlock in the AMD ISP4 driver in Linux 7.2 allows local users to hang device initialization when an initialization step fails. The isp4sd_pwron_and_init() error path calls isp4sd_pwroff_and_deinit() while holding ops_mutex, and the helper attempts to acquire that same non-recursive mutex. Reachability requires the affected driver and an initialization failure; public sources do not establish how local users force that failure.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
