NFSv4 client hang via orphaned delegation state
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Denial of service in the Linux NFSv4 client 4.0 through 7.2.5 allows remote attackers to hang NFSv4 access via a crafted server. The nfs_inode_set_delegation() error paths discard an unrecorded delegation without sending DELEGRETURN, leaving server and client state inconsistent. A malicious or compromised server must win a delegation recall and reopen race; revoked-state handling then loops indefinitely and blocks later NFSv4 RPCs.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
