Kernel-memory disclosure or service interruption via unchecked lengths
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in the Linux NVMe target allows remote attackers to expose kernel memory or interrupt service via malformed authentication data. nvmet_auth_negotiate() trusts the host-supplied transfer length and halen/dhlen counts, then indexes a fixed 60-byte identifier array beyond the allocated message buffer. The path is reachable before authentication from an NVMe host that can connect to an exposed NVMe-oF target; the read can disclose adjacent heap data or interrupt the target service.
