CVE-2026-90224Hinoki check available

Socket use-after-free via double completion race

Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026

A race condition in Linux kernel NFC NCI allows adjacent attackers to trigger premature release of a socket still in use. Concurrent nci_close_device and nci_rx_work paths can both invoke nci_data_exchange_complete, causing a second sock_put after only one sock_hold and underflowing the reference count. Exploitation requires NFC radio adjacency and a high-complexity overlap between device closure and receive-work completion; the record does not establish code execution or a reliable crash.
