Kernel memory corruption via unchecked OCFS2 orphan slot
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Out-of-bounds access in the Linux OCFS2 driver allows attackers to corrupt kernel memory by supplying a crafted filesystem volume. ocfs2_validate_inode_block() accepts an active i_orphaned_slot beyond osb->max_slots, and ocfs2_wipe_inode() uses it to index osb_orphan_wipes and the system-inode cache. A privileged user must mount the attacker-supplied volume; orphan recovery can disclose adjacent slab data, overwrite memory, or crash the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
