Information disclosure via uninitialized haptic report values
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Information disclosure in Linux 6.18 HID haptics allows local users to expose uninitialized data via effect reports. In drivers/hid/hid-haptic.c, fill_effect_buf() writes an uninitialized or previous value into field->value[] for unhandled usages, which hid_output_report() serializes into the effect buffer. The affected haptic path must process an unhandled usage; vendor assessments specify low-privileged local access, but upstream does not document a complete exploitation procedure.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
