Freed-memory access via ioctl removal race
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Linux mtip32xx use-after-free allows local users to access freed kernel memory via an ioctl racing block-device removal. The ioctl handlers check REMOVE_PENDING without synchronizing with mtip_hw_exit(), which frees dd->port while mtip_hw_ioctl() still dereferences it. Reachability requires an already open affected block device during removal; the published notice does not establish code execution or a specific crash outcome.
