Kernel crash via premature child socket destruction
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux 7.1 SMB Direct allows local users to crash the kernel via privileged listener shutdown with pending sockets. In fs/smb/smbdirect/socket.c, smbdirect_socket_destroy() frees child connection IDs before destroying the listener, leaving _cma_cancel_listens() to access freed memory. Reachability requires an active RDMA listener with pending or ready children and administrative shutdown access; the reported nested-lock warning is not a real deadlock.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
