Kernel memory corruption via stale XSK buffer array
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in Linux 6.11 through 7.2.5 allows local users to corrupt kernel memory by enlarging a virtio_net RX ring. virtnet_rx_resize leaves rq->xsk_buffs at its old size, and virtnet_rx_resume writes XDP buffer pointers beyond that allocation after the virtqueue grows. Exploitation requires CAP_NET_ADMIN and CAP_NET_RAW in a user-owned network namespace holding the virtio_net device; the overflow can crash the guest kernel or enable arbitrary read, write, or control-flow hijack.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
