Unauthenticated statistics reset via unprotected AJAX action
Published May 27, 2026 · Updated May 27, 2026
Missing authorization in rahulbhangale WP Promoter 1.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to reset bar and popup statistics. The reset_stats() handler is registered on the unauthenticated wp_ajax_nopriv_wpp-reset_stats action and deletes the wpp_bar and wpp_popup options without authentication, authorization, or nonce validation. No account or user interaction is required; a network request can erase only the plugin's stored bar and popup statistics.
