Resource leak via missing probe-error card cleanup
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Resource leakage in Linux 5.15 ALSA ice1712 allows local users to consume kernel resources through failed sound-card initialization. snd_ice1712_probe() returns from initialization failures after snd_card_new() without releasing the allocated ALSA card. The driver must reach an error after card allocation; public records do not establish attacker control of that failure or a specific crash outcome.
