CVE-2026-90117Hinoki check available

Out-of-bounds read via unchecked record offset

Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026

Out-of-bounds reads in Linux NTFS 7.1 allow local users to trigger invalid kernel memory access via corrupted disk records. In fs/ntfs/mft.c, ntfs_mft_record_alloc() uses an unvalidated usa_ofs from a raw $MFT record to read a two-byte update sequence number outside the page-cache folio. The trigger is file creation on an NTFS volume containing a corrupted free record; the documented result is a KASAN use-after-free report, not demonstrated code execution.
