Kernel crash via uninitialized NFS callback pointer
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Memory corruption in the Linux NFSv4.1 callback decoder allows attackers to crash a client via an empty referring-call list. decode_cb_sequence_args() leaves rcl_refcalls uninitialized when decode_rc_list() receives zero referring calls, and cleanup passes the stale slab value to kfree(). Reachability requires an affected kernel to process the crafted NFSv4.1 callback; the bounded consequences are kernel-memory corruption and a host crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
