CVE-2026-90089

Bluetooth controller reset via truncated dump header

Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in the Linux btnxpuart driver allows physically proximate attackers to reset an NXP Bluetooth controller via malformed ACL data. nxp_process_fw_dump() reads seq_num and buf_len from an eight-byte firmware-dump header without first verifying that the ACL payload contains that header. Exploitation requires an NXP Bluetooth UART path and a handle-0xfff dump frame; a zero buf_len can end the dump early and trigger a controller reset.
