Kernel panic via unchecked non-Ethernet IFE framing
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Denial of service in Linux 4.11 IFE allows local users to crash the kernel by directing non-Ethernet packets into traffic control. The tcf_ife_act path uses skb->dev->hard_header_len for ingress buffer adjustments without checking actual Ethernet framing, causing skb_under_panic when headroom is insufficient. The demonstrated trigger redirects PPP packets into a veth ingress IFE encode action; Amazon's assessment requires high local privileges and identifies availability loss.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
