Out-of-bounds read via off-by-one audio enum validation
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Linux ASoC allows local users to trigger an out-of-bounds read via a crafted second-channel audio-control enum value. In sound/soc/soc-dapm.c, snd_soc_dapm_put_enum_double() accepts a second-channel index equal to the item count, which snd_soc_enum_item_to_val() uses to read one element past adav80x_mux_values. The trigger requires access to an adav80x audio control with CONFIG_SND_CTL_INPUT_VALIDATION disabled, its default; the documented effect is a one-element kernel read, not demonstrated code execution.
