Denial of service via uninitialized PTP cleanup
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Improper PTP cleanup in the Linux FEC driver allows local users to interrupt service through device removal or failed initialization. In fec_main.c, fec_probe() and fec_drv_remove() call fec_ptp_stop() without checking fep->bufdesc_ex, canceling work and a timer whose initialization was skipped. Exposure requires the affected FEC device and cleanup path; SUSE assesses privileged local access, while the published material does not specify a hang or crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
