Concurrent slot access and hangs via mispositioned lock
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026
Race condition in Linux 7.0 zram allows attackers to break slot locking or hang compressed-memory operations via concurrent access. On 64-bit big-endian kernels, the slot-lock bit addresses the ac_time half of the aliased __lock word, so access-time writes clear a held lock or set it indefinitely. The condition requires ZRAM_TRACK_ENTRY_ACTIME and affected zram code; it admits two CPUs to one slot or blocks later operations permanently.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
