Kernel memory corruption via undersized USB endpoint
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in affected Linux kernels allows physically proximate attackers to corrupt kernel memory via a crafted USB MIDI endpoint. snd_usbmidi_us122l_output() requests two MIDI bytes when ep->max_transfer and its URB buffer are one byte, then passes the wrapped result of 1 - 2 to memset() as a size. Exploitation requires a physically connected USB MIDI device that advertises a one-byte bulk endpoint and reaches the US-122L output path; published evidence does not establish code execution.
